Authorities identify 3 killed in Raleigh crash

Three people were killed early Sunday in a crash near the intersection of Forestville Road and Buffaloe Road.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Three people were killed early Sunday in a crash near the intersection of Forestville Road and Buffaloe Road.

According to officials with the State Highway Patrol, a speeding silver car lost control at the intersection around 2 a.m., over-corrected and slide sideways into an oncoming SUV.

Driver Carlos Gomez, 19, passenger Juan Gomez, 17, and passenger Erick Avila, 18, were all killed in the crash.

A mother and child in the SUV were transported to WakeMed with non-life-threatening injuries.

The roadway was shut for approximately three hours while crews cleared and investigated the crash. Identities of the victims are being withheld until families can be notified.
