4 hospitalized in Raleigh crash involving school bus

Four people were hospitalized Thursday afternoon following a crash between a pick-up truck and a school bus.

Authorities said the the truck crossed the double center line into oncoming traffic and crashed into the bus at the intersection of Skycrest Drive and Diquedo Drive.

The driver of the truck, Jessica Lavern Perry, told police that she swerved to avoid hitting a car that was stopped in front of her, the wreck report said. Both vehicles sustained significant front-end damage.

Four people, including three children, in the truck were transported to WakeMed for treatment. None of the injuries were life-threatening, authorities said.

The bus is owned by Elite Transit. A sign on the bus said it was transporting students from Pave Schools, a charter school in southeast Raleigh. No children on the bus were injured. Students were either transferred to another bus or picked up by parents at the scene.

An investigation is underway.
