3 Arrested, $2 Million in Marijuana Seized

Posted June 4, 2007

— Police seized about $2 million in marijuana and arrested three people Saturday in what is being described as one of the largest marijuana busts in the Durham Police Department’s history.

Investigators stopped a truck in the 500 block of Hoover Road and found 1,904 pounds of marijuana in the truck’s trailer.

Hector Fabian Arguello Meza, 22, of Troendly Street in Burlington; Ulises Soto Partida, 23, of an unknown address in Burlington; and Aracely Lopez Gomez, 20, of Troendly Street in Burlington, are charged with trafficking in marijuana by possession and by transportation.

They were placed in the Durham County Jail under $250,000 bonds.

The arrests were the result of an ongoing investigation, police said.

Great news!! Possession of marijuana is not illegal! When God
made the "herb" and gave it to mankind for food, he didn't give
government any jurisdiction over it, so any law for possession
of it is illegal. To deny this would be for government to deny
their existence and their oath of office, so help them God!!

JDPike, that is a very close estimate based on what you could get if broken down to ounces. actually by my estimate, it should have been closer to 2.4, but i suppose it could have been poor quality.

I smoked weed once before. I couldn't understand what the big deal was. I didn't feel anything. I just kept eating and eating and eating.

Why do folks assume those arrested were illiegal aliens? The ongoing investigation was on drug trafficing or...??

Now I wish they would do something about all the crack cocaine floating around. The violence seems to be centered around the crack rock, not pot.

We should send the confiscated weed to Al qaeda with some twinkies and some South Park DVDs....

...Oh, and then we should nuke'm.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see the drugs off of the street.

I have tried smoking pot in the past, but it wasn't for me. But, either the price of an ounce has gone up tremendously, or someone inflated the value of these drugs to make themselves look good. Who knows, I guess I could call up some old high school friends and find out.

I am sure you did not miss anything 1stAmerican. I am sure this are upstanding citizens just trying to raise a little side money off of 1900lbs of DOPE. And I am sure they were going to donate a portion of that for taxes as well.
