25 dogs killed in fire at New Bern boarding facility

Twenty-five dogs died Monday morning when fire tore through Lynaire Kennels and Crematory in Craven County, according to WITN.

NEW BERN, N.C. — Twenty-five dogs died Monday morning when fire tore through Lynaire Kennels and Crematory in Craven County, according to WITN.

Firefighters responded to the facility, which is in New Bern, shortly after 4 a.m. About half of the building was destroyed, but authorities were able to save about 20 cats and dogs.

It took firefighters about 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control, and a total of two hours to put it out, according to fire officials
