2 home invasions reported in Durham

Authorities said the incidents seemed similar enough to suggest a connection, but did not release a description of the suspect.

DURHAM, N.C. — Two home invasions were reported in Durham Friday afternoon.

The first was called in to the Durham County sheriff's office just after 1 p.m. from the 4900 block of Montvale Drive. A man who claimed to be making a delivery forced a woman into her home and attempted to lock her in a closet. Lt. Rick Padgett reported that the woman suffered injuries to her arm, shoulder and face.

The second report came from the 4400 block of Myers Park Drive at about 2:30 p.m. According to Durham police, a man entered the home through an unlocked garage door and surprised a woman inside the home. After she screamed, the suspect fled.

Authorities said the incidents seemed similar enough to suggest a connection, but did not release a description of the suspect.
