19 pot plants seized in search of Moore County home

The homeowners face felony trafficking charges in connection with the bust, authorities said Monday.

Officers from the Moore County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, State Bureau of Investigation and North Carolina Highway Patrol Aviation Unit conducted the raid Wednesday at 383 Old Post Office Road.

Authorities said they seized the plants, which were 10 to 12 feet tall and weighed about 50 pounds each, along with 11 grams of marijuana, digital scales and other drug paraphernalia. The marijuana had an estimated street value of $225,000.

Graham Scott Powers, 42, was charged with two felony counts of trafficking in marijuana, conspiracy to traffic in marijuana, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana and manufacturing marijuana.

Brenda Kay Powers, 41, was charged with two felony counts of trafficking in marijuana, conspiracy to traffic in marijuana, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, and maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance, along with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Graham Powers gave his address to authorities as Quail Road in Norwood. He and Brenda Powers are listed as owners of the home where the bust occurred, according to Moore County property records.

Graham Scott Powers was held in the Moore County Detention Center on a $5,000 secured bond.
