1 injured in shooting at Walmart parking lot in Nashville

A person was injured in a shooting at a Walmart parking lot in Nashville on Sunday afternoon, police said.

NASHVILLE, N.C. — A person was injured in a shooting at a Walmart parking lot in Nashville on Sunday afternoon, police said.

Nashville police officers responded to the Walmart at 1205 Eastern Ave. around 1:23 p.m.

Police said Samuel Evans, 39, and Jaishawn Freeman had gotten into an altercation, and threats were made.

Freeman told police he had pointed a gun at Evans while in a car.

Evans then fired into Freeman's car, striking him, police said. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Freeman's girlfriend, Brainna Young, drove Freeman to a Walgreen's and hid his gun, police said.

Evans was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. He was held in the Nash County jail under a $25,000 bond.

Freeman was charged with assault by pointing a gun and was held in the Nash County jail under a $5,000 bond.

Charges are pending against Young for aiding and abetting, police said.
