1 Charged, 1 Still Sought in Durham Killing

A police special operations team Wednesday night charged a man with the Saturday killing of a man at a home on West Enterprise Street.

DURHAM, N.C. — A police special operations team Wednesday night charged a man with the Saturday killing of a man at a home on West Enterprise Street.

Officers from the Selective Enforcement Team arrested Billy Jerome “Li’l Bill” Richardson Jr., 22, of Commonwealth Street and charged him with killing Paul Maye, the department announced.

Maye, 42, of Massey Avenue was found dead inside 200 W. Enterprise St. when police arrived there to answer a call. Shortly after, they found another man at a service station. He had been shot in the arm and told officers he had been at the house where they found Maye, officials said.

In addition to murder, police said they charged Richardson with first-degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

It took police until Monday to identify Maye.

Police were still searching for a second suspect.
