RALEIGH, N.C. — The self-titled World's Largest Truck Convoy rolled along the Beltline Saturday morning in support of Special Olympics.

Dozens of big rigs hit the Beltline at 11 a.m., accompanied by law enforcement officers.

The nationwide, annual event was organized by state chapters of Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. Truckers paid a $100 entry fee and entered bids to be the lead truck in the convoy.

In 2007, more than 2,000 truckers took part nationwide and raised nearly $700,000.
