$20K in damages reported after Orange churches vandalized

Officials are searching Friday for suspects who vandalized two churches in Caldwell, causing more than $20,000 in damages.

HURDLE MILLS, N.C. — Officials were searching Friday for suspects who vandalized two churches in the Caldwell community, causing more than $20,000 in damages.

According to officials with the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Little River Presbyterian Church, located in Hurdle Mills, and New Bethel United Methodist Church, located in Rougemont, were broken into and vandalized late Wednesday. Authorities believe the suspects vandalized the churches between 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday and into the early hours of Thursday.

Officials are asking the public to help locate the suspects, who broke numerous panes of glass and damaged church doors. Nothing appears to have been stolen.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Orange County Sheriff’s Office at 919-245-2900.
