RALEIGH, N.C. — WRAL First Night Raleigh is looking for volunteers to help with its annual New Year's Eve event in downtown Raleigh.

Here's a list of what volunteers are needed and when:

  • Kids Activity Supervisors - Students 15 years and older are asked to help participants create crafts or play games. Children’s parents will be present during the event. Volunteers are asked to serve 2.5 hour shifts and can choose to work more than one shift. This volunteer activity qualifies for high school service hours and can be signed off on at the event.
  • Venue Hosts - Volunteers 18 years and older or 15 years and older with a parent or guardian are asked to host various venues for performing artists on New Year’s Eve. Venue hosts will check placement of signage, announce the talent (script provided), offer water to the performers, usher guests to their seats and clean up between shows.
  • Roller Rink Volunteers - Roller rink volunteers (ages 15 years and older) are needed to assist with skate rental from 2 to 11 p.m. This will include collecting shoes and handing out skates. This will be an outdoor activity. Volunteers should dress for the weather.

WRAL First Night Raleigh is happening Dec. 31 in downtown Raleigh. Activities include live music, crafts, magic, comedy and more across 20 blocks of downtown Raleigh. This year's event will include the early afternoon Children's Celebration, which concludes with an early acorn drop, followed by a night of live music on the outdoor main stage. The acorn will drop again at midnight followed by a fireworks show.

A Ferris wheel and roller rink will be among the activities happening this year.
