SC woman dies in alligator attack

A woman was killed in an alligator attack on Monday in Beaufort County, South Carolina.

The attack was reported around 11:15 a.m. in an age-restricted community in Okatie.

Deputies, medical responders and security personnel found a woman's body and an alligator nearby.

The circumstances surrounding the attack were not provided.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources was trying to remove the alligator from a body of water as of Monday afternoon.

The investigation is being handled by the SCDNR and the Beaufort County Coroner's Office.
