Driver facing charges after 61-year-old pedestrian hit and killed by SUV in Cary

A pedestrian died after being struck by the driver of an SUV in Cary on Sunday night.

According to Cary police, 61-year-old Minase Agegenhu was hit at 9:12 p.m. at the intersection of Buck Jones Road and Nottingham Drive.

Police say the driver of the SUV, 35-year-old Valemetria Lassiter of Raleigh, stayed at the scene.

She is now charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, as well as failure to reduce speed.
