ECU police investigating item in student's dorm room

Police at East Carolina University on Tuesday were investigating a suspicious package found in a student's dorm room at Legacy Hall on College Hill Drive.

According to ECU, a student used a social media post to reference an item in their bedroom that "may or may not be a bomb."

The student cooperated with law enforcement, and no direct threat was made, according to police.

As a precaution, law enforcement removed students from Legacy Hall and will investigate the item. The dormitory holds 365 students.
