Along with changing leaves and cooler temperatures, the fall season is bringing new savings on some top products.

Need a way to get a step ahead on your fall yard chores? Rev up for the job with the Oregon Electric Corded Chainsaw. It’s $85 at Walmart. Consumer Reports says it’s lightweight and great for smaller jobs.

There's plenty of smart technology on sale this month. Deals were triggered by Amazon’s latest announcement on Alexa-enabled devices.

"Amazon just unveiled its newest devices, including a smart robot, smart thermostat, a fitness tracker and an echo show. and that echo show means they are going to start discounting older items," according to Consumer Reports Shopping Editor Samantha Gordon.

She said the Second Generation Echo Show Smart Speaker on clearance for $116 at Best Buy. It features a 10 inch touch screen and testers describe the sound quality as decent.

Next, while temperatures drop outside, keep the inside steady with a smart thermostat.

Consumer Reports found the Google Nest Learning Thermostat for $199 at Abt Electronics, Home Depot, Amazon and Staples. Experts says it’s one of the top smart thermostats they’ve tested and has automated monitoring to help save on utility bills.

Another electronic that you should invest in is a smart smoke and carbon monoxide detector.

The First Alert Onelink is $82 at Amazon. You can control and monitor it from your smartphone.

Gordon said to watch for big savings on mattresses.

"Mattress sales happen so frequently, that you don’t ever really need to pay full price," she Gordon. "If you find a mattress you like and its not on sale right now,.wait a week or two, check back and it's probably going to be on sale again!"

While it may be odd to ask, Gordon said try a mattress before you buy it. Spend at least 10 minutes on each side and on your back to get the feel of it. If you’re buying online or at a warehouse club where try-outs aren’t an option, its extra important to check return policies.
