SUNSET BEACH, N.C. — Police officers helped wrangle a 9-foot alligator in a Sunset Beach neighborhood last week.

On Friday, Oct. 15, officers from the Sunset Beach Police Department responded to Oyster Bay Drive after residents in the area complained an alligator was walking through the neighborhood.

The alligator also attempted to enter the community's pool area, officers said.

When they arrived, the alligator had broken through a porch lattice at the reservation office. Officers said the gator was relocated to a nearby pond.
