ZEBULON, N.C. — The town of Zebulon has fleshed out plans for a holiday celebration to replace the annual Christmas parade.

The town announced last month that new legal limits on parades would force the change. After the death of a child in the Raleigh Christmas Parade in 2022, the North Carolina state legislature has proposed age requirements, safety inspections, and license verifications for floats.

Zebulon's Deck the Hall-Z Holiday Celebration on the evening of Friday, Dec. 8 will include:

  • Reverse parade: Entries will stand still while visitors can walk among them, collecting sweet treats
  • Decorated forest of Christmas trees
  • Candy cane drop
  • Classic car show
  • Live music and performances from school bands, local dance troupes and choirs
  • Toy drive to pack Santa's sleigh
  • A heart-warming holiday film, suitable for all ages
  • Local food and drink available for purchase.

Admission is free for all.
