RALEIGH, N.C. — A Zebulon Elementary School teacher and her husband face fraud charges in connection with what authorities call a staged car crash.

Yashika Ann Robinson, 39, and Wauddell Joseph Robinson, 41, both of 3817 La Varra Drive in Clayton, were each charged Tuesday with insurance fraud and felony conspiracy.

Investigators with the state Department of Insurance said the couple worked with several other people to fake a crash so they could file claims for property damage and bodily injury with Repwest Insurance. Arrest warrants don't state the dollar value of the allegedly fraudulent claims.

Yashika Robinson teaches pre-kindergarten at Zebulon Elementary, officials said.
