ZEBULON, N.C. — Search warrants issued Tuesday seek Facebook information related to the attempted murder of a woman, records show.

Authorities said Christopher Ryan Griggs, of 2328 Lizard Lick Road in Zebulon, became angry with his girlfriend in April when she began receiving text messages from a friend.

Griggs tried to shoot her in the face with a rifle and drown her in a bathtub, according to an arrest warrant. She required medical attention, authorities said.

Griggs later threatened to kill any law enforcement officers that came to their residence and barricaded himself inside for a while, authorities said.

The victim told law enforcement that she couldn't immediately help because Griggs took her phone.

The victim said Griggs contacted her through Facebook Messenger the day after the assault.

Griggs was charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, interfering with the 911 system and resisting a public officer.

The search warrants list the Internet Protocol activity logs, Facebook account creation information and stored digital records related to Griggs' account and the victim's account.

Griggs was being held without bond in the Wake County jail.
