Zebulon man charged in Rite Aid robbery

Police said a robber entered the store at 320 N. Arendell Ave. just after 8 p.m. Monday. He indicated to a store clerk that he was armed, then demanded money. The robber fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.

ZEBULON, N.C. — A Zebulon man has been charged in the robbery of a Rite Aid earlier this week. 

Police said a robber entered the store at 320 N. Arendell Ave. just after 8 p.m. Monday. He indicated to a store clerk that he was armed, then demanded money. The robber fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.

No one was injured.

Travis Clifford McClain, 25, of 106 W. Sycamore St., was arrested at his home about three hours later. 

McClain was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.

He is on probation for a misdemeanor larceny conviction in July, according to state Department of Correction records. He's also been convicted of nine felony break-in and larceny charges.
