Our 1st 90 degree day of the year is looking likely today 90 is what we're forecasting for Durham Raleigh and Fayetteville. 89. For most other areas around our viewing area, it's a hot one outside the sun feels extra hot today. One of the reasons why we may actually hit 90 is because the air is a bit drier outside today. At least it's not as humid though over the weekend, humidity climbs, but we've got a lot more moisture heading our way. We could see some scattered storms return. Saturday is not looking all that wet though. That's good news. It's a 40% chance of rain and storms mostly dry in the morning. 82 and rain possible on Sunday with some isolated a high near 80. The good news is there's only a 20% chance of rain on Saturday morning for the Coleman race for the cure. Meteorologist, Mike Mays will be one of the M CS out there so you can check in with him for forecasts to updates throughout the race. It will be around 67 at 7 a.m. and by one o'clock, rain chances up a little bit temperatures near 80. We also have the Ham and Yam festival happening in Smithfield starts at 10 a.m. Saturday. It looks drier early on, but a bit later on into the festival, we could see some scattered thunderstorms develop. We finally have some high resolution model data to look at for Saturday throughout the day, Friday, we expect dry weather but we still have a small 20% chance of rain. Friday night. Futurecast not showing a very high chance Saturday. We could see some storms fire up during the afternoon. Notice the spacing of these storms here. I wouldn't take the placement of them too literally. But the radar is not covered in storms everywhere in central North Carolina though, we do really need the rain. The new drought monitor is in, it's showing abnormally dry conditions for pretty much the entire viewing area. Now, we're hopeful that we'll get some more rain in the coming weeks and it does look like we'll transition to a wetter pattern and hopefully that will keep a flash drought at bay. Our muggy meter is climbing though. So enjoy the more comfortable air while you can. Once we get to the weekend, it'll feel more humid. And especially next week, the heat sticks around next week, but the humidity will be climbing. We've got a couple of 90 degree days today and tomorrow temperatures fall a bit over the weekend with more clouds and a chance for rain. And then as we get into next week, temperatures are likely to climb right back into the nineties. By the time we get to Wednesday.
