On his way to work, I caught up with John Roberson who works in retail, he expressed concern, saying the city maybe reopening too soon.

“I live down the street from Glenwood South so I’ll see all the people around that age acting like nothing is going on like there’s no pandemic going on , just going about their day like normal,”Roberson, said.

“Sometimes I see the students here are riding their bike and hanging around not wearing masks,”Xiang Li, NC State student, said.

At UNC physicians are seeing an increase in positive cases among the younger population, which they say could be the cause of the increase in cases overall.

“You have young people getting infected at high rates driving the numbers up and they rightfully so know they are unlikely to have poor outcomes from it. In two or four weeks when we start seeing older people Start to fall more seriously Ill, quite possibly,” Matthew St. Marie, said.

St. Marie understands people are tired of being locked down, so he says taking a step back and closing again is not the best idea. At this point it’s up to individuals to wear a mask and social distance until there’s better control of the situation.
