You Won’t Look Like Sharon Stone at 59

With decades on the screen and some very memorable roles to boot, Sharon Stone knows a thing or two about beauty — both physical and the perception of it. So it makes sense that when it comes to beauty products, Stone, 59, is assured in her choices and organized. For easy travel, she keeps her favorite products in several “road bags,” which will surely be put to good use this year. She stars in “Mosaic,” Steven Soderbergh’s innovative murder mystery that started as an app and morphed into an HBO miniseries, and in the romantic comedy “All I Wish,” out March 30. Below, find her beauty picks.

Skin Care

I don’t do much in the morning. I wash my face with water and brush my teeth. I like Arm & Hammer Truly Radiant. But when I’m taking a bath or shower, I love Rituals Bath Foam, which I get off Amazon. It’s where I do all of my shopping. I like the Happy Buddha one and the Ritual of the Dao. My oldest son is now hooked on those, too.

After the shower, I like Shiseido body lotion. On my face it depends on the weather. If I’m in a dry climate, I use the Weleda Skin Food on my body and face. Or I use La Mer or the Neutrogena with SPF 15 sunblock. I also use Eucerin, which is a really good, easy-to-get product. And Avon’s Rich Moisture cream is a good product that has never gone bad on me.

If I need it, especially if I’m traveling, the Chantecaille Gold Energizing Eye Recovery Mask is amazing. And I love my H. Gillerman essential oils for the plane.

Makeup

I use different foundations depending on the day. I like Chantecaille Future Skin, but my usual day-to-day is IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream, which is like a heavily tinted moisturizer with sunblock. I have a pool, and I use a convertible car, and it’s good to just slap it on. I also have very spotty skin. For appearances, I might use the Koh Gen Do water foundation. It’s just a fantastic product. I’m going to use it on my next film.

Mascara, I love the Sisley So Curl and the IT Cosmetics one that comes in a long tube — it’s called Superhero. I use a lot of Nars. I’ve been friends with François Nars since my modeling years. I’ve been to his island in Tahiti. Actually our birthdays are just one or two days apart, and we’ve had birthday parties there together. I’ve been using his Radiant Creamy Concealer and Orgasm Liquid Blush. The Cruella Velvet Matte Lip Pencil is one of my staples.

I also used to work with Kevyn Aucoin. He came to me one day and said he would do every one of my amfAR appearances, and that’s how we met. His birthday was on Valentine’s Day, and I always think of him then. I wore the Kevyn Aucoin Molten Liquid Lipstick, a metallic high-shine gloss, on “Conan” the other day.

I just got a beautiful new lip balm and lip powder duo from Chanel. I also use the Sarafine Liquid Lipstick by Anastasia. She really knows how to make lipstick stay put. I had it on on New Year’s Eve, and I got this surprise super-fabulous kiss at midnight, and he did not walk away wearing my lipstick.

I have one drawer with all my road bags. In my makeup road bag, I always have my Benefit black eye pencil. It’s kohl with a smudge stick at one end; it’s almost a nub now. And I have my Tweezerman and these little Colgate Wisp toothbrushes so I can brush my teeth at lunch when I’m on the job. If I’m going out, I like false lashes by Red Cherry. I learned to do them myself just this year. Once you get it, it’s not that hard, but you have to devote one several-hour block to figuring it out. It’s really about relaxing while you do it, and you have to learn to cut them to fit your eyes. I measure them from the center of my pupil to the end of my eye, and I cut off the bigger end. I curl my lashes; I put on a light coat of mascara and a little eye pencil as close as I can to my lashes and then smudge it a bit. Then I lay the lashes on by looking directly into a magnifier mirror.

When you put the glue on, put it on the outer edge where it curls, not just on the ridge. Also, you want to blow on the glue for, like, two seconds before you set it on the skin at the top of your lashes. I use only Duo lash glue in black. And make sure your pointer finger and thumb are really dry so that when you squeeze the lashes down onto the lid and then roll your finger off, it doesn’t pull the lashes with it.

Fragrance

When I put on some fragrance, I like Chanel No. 5 or Kai. There’s also this perfume Dange-Rose by Blumarine that’s great.

Hair

I cut my own hair. The first time was when I was with a French hairdresser years and years ago, and I had long hair. He said pull all your hair up and then just cut off the ends and you’ll have all the layers you want. Every once in a while, when I get a haircut from someone else, hairdressers will complain, “Who did this haircut?” But the truth is no one ever likes someone else’s cut.

My color is done by Kacey Welch. I love her because she’s really good and really fast, and she’s cool.

My hair road bag is always changing. I use Davines Nourishing Shampoo and Replumping Conditioner from its Naturaltech line. Right now, I like KMS Hairplay Playable Texture. It’s weightless. And I always carry a brushable hair spray — the Sebastian one at the moment. There’s also a dry shampoo by Klorane, and I have Bullfrog Molding Paste.

Other Services

I love to get massages when I can find the time, but I have three kids. We just remodeled our house, though, and the boys and I all got steam in our showers. It’s really great.

Diet and Fitness

I don’t eat processed food. I don’t drink caffeine, and very rarely will have a soda or alcohol. But I eat meat and dark chocolate. I sugar my tea if I feel like it. I have celiac disease, so I don’t eat gluten. Otherwise, I just eat like a person — whatever I’m hungry for.

I do Pilates — I have a machine in my house. Or I go to a gym and circuit train depending on what mood I’m in. Or I might put on music and dance my brains out. I’m not the person who will get on a treadmill and stare at a wall.

Also, for me, it’s more about real inner beauty. It’s important to have a philosophy or way of life or faith that keeps you balanced. For me, that has been Buddhism. It’s something that brings you back to center, and is really the key to serenity and beauty — an internal sense of form and elegance.
