WILLIS, VA. — Orland Phillips turned 103 years old on Saturday and he celebrated with friends from around the country.

Using social media, Phillips' daughter asked for well-wishers to send him cards for his upcoming birthday.

The World War II veteran has gotten more than 1,000 cards from nearly every state in the U.S. A group of second graders even pitched in with homemade cards.
