ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A single-vehicle wreck in Rocky Mount early Saturday left two people hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and two others with minor injuries.

Police said that around 2 a.m., a truck driven by Juan Perez, 27, ran off the Raleigh Road and hit a bridge column at U.S. Highway 301.

Perez and Crystal Requena, 26, were pinned in the truck and had to be extricated, police said. They were transported to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

Two other passengers, Antonio Parbajal, 20, and Manual Loria, 25, were treated and released.

Police said alcohol might have been a factor in the wreck. The investigation continues.
