Wreck in Cumberland County Kills 1

Avery Leroy Horne Jr., 45, of 2028 Seabrook School Road, lost control of his Ford Mustang on Turnbull Road near Gip Fisher Road at about 9 p.m. Tuesday, the state  Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said Horne was speeding and tried to overcorrect after initially leaving the roadway. The car then ran off the road and struck a telephone pole and a tree, authorities said.

Horne, who was the only occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
