A Clay Aiken autograph four years in the making

Posted Updated

Clay Aiken stopped by the WRAL newsroom this morning to promote a benefit concert, and he was nice enough to sign a few autographs before leaving. One of those autographs has a really cool story behind it. I'll let my co-worker, multimedia designer Dave Sweeney, tell you about it:
"Just before I started at WRAL.com in 2006, Clay Aiken came into WRAL studios and I was told it was like the President of the United States was paying a visit. There were many, many fans waiting outside the studios, and he had to be brought in through the side gates to avoid the crowds.

Anyway, when I told my mother, who is a big fan and possibly a 'Clay-mate', that I just missed his visit, she said: 'Since I know he lives in Raleigh, I am going to mail you my CD cover for him to sign (the next time he comes to visit).' Well, it took nearly four years, but I just called her and gave her the good news. Needless to say, she was ecstatic."
