Elizabeth's earlobe wardrobe gets viewers' attention

Posted April 29, 2010 10:42 a.m. EDT

WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner says viewers e-mail her "fairly often" to share their opinions about her hairstyle or clothing choices. But it was one tiny accessory she wore on Wednesday that had viewers calling and e-mailing non-stop.

"I went on TV with one earring," she said.

Elizabeth lost the other earring during a bike ride earlier that day and decided to appear on the noon news with one bare earlobe.

"Well, one earring is better than no earrings," she said with a laugh.

Viewers took note of her missing dangly pearl ear piece and began calling the station and e-mailing Elizabeth to let her know.

"I thought it was very funny," she said.

Getting feedback from viewers is nothing new to Elizabeth. Most people are kind when they write in about her appearance, she said, and they tend to ask two specific questions – "Where do you buy your clothes?" and "Who is your hairdresser?"

"If you change your hair ... oh, you get a flurry of e-mails," Elizabeth said.

She gets the occasional critical e-mail as well, including one from a woman who said her clothing was outdated.

"(The woman) said, 'Shirts with collars are out! Why are you wearing that?'" Elizabeth recalled with a smile.
