RALEIGH, N.C. — WRAL-TV on Thursday officially joined the ranks of CBS stations making programming available live and on-demand on the CBS All Access digital streaming service.

For $5.99 per month, CBS All Access subscribers can watch live TV programs as they are broadcast from a computer or mobile device. Subscribers can also access on-demand episodes of shows both current and classic CBS shows, like "The Big Bang Theory," "Cheers" and "Star Trek."

The app uses technology to determine when a device is located within the geographic footprint of a local CBS affiliate to serve up the correct and current live television programming.

CBS launched All Access in October 2014 to provide live streaming by local affiliates. Network-owned-and-operated affiliates were the first to offer the service, and now the network is expanding its footprint to additional markets, including Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville.

"We are delighted to be part of CBS All Access," WRAL-TV General Manager Steve Hammel said. "This simulcast of all programs and commercials on WRAL allows more access for our viewers to watch all we have to offer."

The partnership with CBS All Access does not change the free, live and on-demand digital video offered on the web and WRAL News apps, WRAL.com General Manager John Conway said. The website, the most popular local news source in the Triangle, streams newscasts online daily and offers live video of breaking news, trials, Wake County school board meetings and other events. Episodes of WRAL-produced programs like "On the Record" and "Brain Game," WRAL Documentaries and newscast segments are also available on-demand and are found in the Video section of the website and app.
