WRAL to host third McCrory, Cooper debate

Gov. Pat McCrory and challengers Roy Cooper and Lon Cecil have agreed to a final debate before the Nov. 8 election.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Gov. Pat McCrory and challengers Roy Cooper and Lon Cecil have agreed to a final debate before the Nov. 8 election.

WRAL News will host the hour-long debate, which will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 18. Anchor David Crabtree and Capital Bureau Chief Laura Leslie will serve as moderators.

McCrory, a Republican seeking his second term, Cooper, the Democratic attorney general, and Libertarian Cecil also plan to debate Tuesday night in a forum sponsored by the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters Foundation.

McCrory and Cooper also debated in June at a North Carolina Bar Association gathering.

The Oct. 18 debate will air live on WRAL-TV and be streamed live on WRAL.com and will be available to other media outlets statewide. It will air on Fox50 at 11 p.m.
