Garner man charged in assault witnessed by WRAL reporter

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Raleigh Police Department made an arrest after WRAL reporter Amanda Lamb witnessed a car dragging a woman on Thursday afternoon near the Quality Inn in east Raleigh.

Tori Kyle Williams, 59, of Garner is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

On Friday, police obtained a warrant for Williams' arrest. Williams is being held on $50,000 bond. He has asked for a public defender.

Just before 5 p.m. Thursday, Lamb was outside the hotel, reporting on a shooting that happened there overnight.

She saw two women leaning into a black SUV, then one woman was pulled into the vehicle and dragged across the intersection while her friend chased behind, yelling.

The car spun around and crashed at the intersection of New Bern Avenue and Hedingham Boulevard.
