We’ve been hearing from a lot of our viewers wondering why clips from WRAL newscasts are featured in various political ads.

Some even asked if we’re endorsing candidates.

The answer is no.

Under the fair use provision of copyright law, political candidates can use newscast clips, and there isn’t much a station can do about it.

Since WRAL is the only station in the state with a PolitiFact fact checking team, our news clips get used in a lot of ads on both sides of the aisle.

Please know WRAL News doesn’t endorse any candidate and strives to treat all fairly and equally.
