Work continues on Ashley Christensen's pizza place
Things are moving forward with award-winning chef Ashley Christensen's upcoming pizza restaurant.
Posted — UpdatedPooleside Pie will be located at 428 S. McDowell St. next to Christenen's Poole's Diner in downtown Raleigh.
Administrative site plans for the hotly anticipated restaurant were approved early last month. A few weeks ago, plans to renovate the building, including adding a skylight, were approved, according to city planning records.
Pooleside Pie is expected to open in 2019. Christensen has been charting her journey via the restaurant's Instagram page.
The James Beard award-winning chef also owns Death & Taxes, Beasley's Chicken and Honey, Chuck's and Foundation, creating a restaurant empire in Raleigh.
"The greatest lesson of my first year running Poole’s diner was to listen, to greet guests and learning to tune in more of not just what we wanted to do in food, but more of what our food would mean to the community," said Christensen.
