GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Officers are looking for a man whose sister was shot in the leg Sunday inside a Goldsboro hospital, according to police.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office said Wayne UNC Hospital was on lockdown Sunday night after what they initially believed was an active shooter situation.

Officials with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said a call came in just before 8:20 p.m. of a shooting in the hospital. The hospital was locked down until 9:10 p.m.

The Goldsboro Police Department on Monday stated the shooting was accidental. Officers are looking for Allen Carmichael, 40, the brother of the victim, to serve him a warrant of felony carrying a concealed weapon.

Officials said Carmichael's sister was not an employee but was wearing scrubs when she was shot on the sixth floor. She suffered an injury to her leg that authorities said is not believed to be life-threatening.

it was like, you know, I can see what happens. And that's another thing then let's hope today we're working out. That's just how you really for helping suspect everyone. And I actually don't know what it actually is supposed to be some sort of it because I've been doing this for your kids and I want to make you feel that way now and I'm not valuable or anything like that. And I was like during the pandemic, there's not anything that I haven't given up on land. I don't know what hasn't happened yet. It's not, no, I didn't. And she said looking another with somebody. Yeah. Chicken. Mm hmm. It's kind of cold from the chinese but that you can't open that door. So place in that part of the little things that still manages. So the weather if you want. But this is still a little bit because yeah, mm hmm. Mhm. Mhm, mm hmm. After, um, I don't know that she needs to go in there and to $60,000 for the second question is extremely dangerous because they can get back to the apartment complex. Yeah. Um, for a couple of hours. So I don't want to give out too much information because it's still an ongoing investigation and we're still looking for the suspect off the property, been off the property for quite some time, right. Everybody got the release that I sent out right that there was a couple months. Yeah. I mean I haven't seen the release, but he reviewed the release with me and I was in the hospital that there was an active shooter.

Police search for suspect after shooting at Wayne Memorial Hospital 

The hospital released the following statement on Sunday:

This evening, there was a shooting of a visitor inside Wayne UNC. As this will remain an ongoing investigation, we are unable to share details. However, we are grateful for the professionalism of our teammates and the quick response of our local law enforcement. Following a thorough sweep of the building we are grateful to announce that our facilities are safe and fully operational.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office said they know the identity of the shooter and are working to bring them into custody.
