Woman shot by Durham officer responding to indecent exposure call

The Durham Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting from Saturday.

MORRISVILLE, N.C. — The Durham Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting from Saturday.

Durham police said just after 5:30 p.m. officers responded to a reported indecent exposure incident on the 100 block of Allagosh Drive.

Police said that upon arrival, the officers found an adult female armed with a weapon.

During the incident, police said the female was shot by a responding officer and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries.

Durham police said the officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave with pay, which is standard for officer-involved shootings.

The incident is currently being investigated by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the DPD Professional Standards Division.

It is unclear at this time the circumstances of the shooting and what the extent of any other possible injuries are.
