Woman pleads guilty to killing stepson at Bragg
An Arkansas woman pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court to killing her 3-year-old stepson while living at Fort Bragg almost four years ago, authorities said.
Posted — UpdatedJennifer Arenivar, 27, of Texarkana, Ark., pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter. She will be sentenced in July, when she faces up to life in prison.
Prosecutors said Arenivar slammed Joshua Xavier Arenivar's head on the bathroom floor of their home on post at least three times on Aug. 5, 2007. She had tried to wrestle a piece of plastic from him when he bit her, and she told investigators that she lost control, bit him and then hit him, according to prosecutors.
Joshua was taken to Womack Army Medical Center and then transferred to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, where he died two days later, prosecutors said.
