Woman lying on I-540 in north Raleigh dies after being struck by car
A pedestrian was struck and killed early Monday morning on Interstate 540 in Raleigh.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A woman was struck and killed early Monday morning on Interstate 540 in Raleigh.
The crash occurred before 1:30 a.m. near the Six Forks Road exit, closing I-540 East between Exit 9 (Creedmoor Road) and Exit 11 (Six Forks Road).
The road reopened by 4 a.m.
Crews on the scene said the woman, identified as Kristina Michaud, 34, was lying in the road when a red car hit her.
Her body was taken to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy. No charges will be filed against the driver.
Investigators are working to learn why the woman was lying on the interstate. An investigation is underway.
