— A local woman was killed early Wednesday in a single-car wreck in rural Cumberland County, authorities said.

Maria Lynn Loughran, 44, of 1711 Harper St., was northbound on Hughes Road when her vehicle swerved to miss an animal on the roadway, authorities said. Loughran was unable to maneuver her Ford Sport Trac back onto the road before striking a tree, and the vehicle rolled onto its right side, authorities said.

Loughran was found dead inside the vehicle. She had been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, authorities said.
