FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 34-year-old man was in custody Sunday after holding a woman hostage at a Fayetteville home, according to police.

Around 7:30 a.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a home along the 100 block of Open View Drive near Dunn Road and Samuel Street. Police said Daniel James Jacobs was barricaded and holding a woman inside.

Jacobs was taken into custody and was taken to the Cumberland County Jail where he was being held without bond.

He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, assault on a female and second-degree kidnapping.

Officials did not release the name of the victim and could not elaborate on the woman's condition.

Roads were blocked around the home until midmorning, and drivers were asked to avoid the area.

More information will be released when it becomes available.
