Woman drowns in Kerr Lake
Search and rescue crews pulled the body of a woman from Kerr Lake Thursday morning, Sheriff Peter White said.
Posted — UpdatedHENDERSON, N.C. — Search and rescue crews pulled the body of a woman from Kerr Lake Thursday morning, Vance County Sheriff Peter White said.
Authorities think they know the identity of the woman, but they have not released her name pending notification of her family.
White described the woman as white and about 30 years old. She drowned, he said, but it was too soon to tell whether there were other contributing factors to her death.
Someone called 911 from a camping area off Satterwhite Point Road just before 11 a.m. to report an abandoned car and a body in the lake, White said.
