BROADWAY, N.C. — A 64-year-old woman died in a crash on U.S. Highway 421 Saturday near Broadway, the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office said.

Sieglinda Taylor, of Lillington, was driving north on McArthur Road just before 10 a.m. when she ran a flashing red traffic light, authorities said.

Taylor’s SUV was struck by two vehicles traveling west on U.S. 421, which had flashing yellow lights.

Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her 16-year-old passenger was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The sheriff’s office said the Department of Transportation has been having issues with the traffic lights at that intersection because of the drastic changes in temperature.

The drivers of the two other vehicles were treated on scene.

No charges are expected.
