WENDELL, N.C. — A woman died at a Wendell scuba park Saturday afternoon, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office said.

The woman was diving at Mystery Lake Scuba Park, on Old Quarry Road, with her boyfriend around 1:30 p.m., authorities said.

Her boyfriend told authorities that when he and she swam to the surface of the lake, she complained of breathing issues.

When the two were swimming to shore, the woman lost consciousness.

Her boyfriend began performing CPR, and Wake County EMS took over when they arrived.

They were unable to revive her.

The state medical examiner will investigate the incident.

The scuba park is at Granite Quarry Lake, its website states.
