DURHAM, N.C. — A woman was shot while driving in Durham on Thursday, according to police.

The shooting happened in the 1400 block of Ridgeway Avenue.

Police said the woman crashed her car after being shot. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The woman is the seventh person to be shot in Durham in the past 24 hours.

One of the people shot, Larry Wynne Jackson Jr., 30, died after being shot in McDougald Terrace housing complex, at the intersection of Wabash Street and Ridgeway Avenue on Wednesday night. Police said two other men and a woman were also shot at the housing complex on Wednesday night.

Less than a mile from that shooting, another man was shot in the 1000 block of Linwood Avenue. Police said the man was taken to a local hospital, where he was in stable condition on Thursday. A short time later, a woman was dropped off at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. She told officers she was shot while in the vehicle with the man on Linwood Avenue.

Anyone with information on the Ridgeway Avenue shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.
