ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — Halifax County sheriff's deputies accused a woman last week of stealing rings from her ex-boyfriend's house and trading them for pills.

Investigators said that Polly Ann Holcomb, of Lincoln Street in Gaston, ended a relationship with Richard Clements, 54, of Roanoke Rapids, in early August and stole three rings from his house.

She traded them for methadone pills, investigators said.

Deputies arrested Holcomb Thursday and charged her with larceny, possession of stolen goods and felony obtaining property by false pretenses. She was given a $2,500 bond, and her first court date was set for Nov. 19.
