Woman charged with failing to store firearm after 4-year-old boy dies in accidental shooting
Shafika Gwynn, 39, is charged with failing to store a firearm to protect minors. The charge stems from an accidental shooting of a 4-year-old boy on May 20.

Gwynn has posted bond and is scheduled to have a July 20 court date.
The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said Gwynn's charge stems from a May 20 accidental fatal shooting of a 4-year-old boy on Delta Drive, just outside of Roanoke Rapids.
According to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office, the boy died from what looks like an "accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound."
An investigation allowed authorities to obtain a warrant for Gwynn’s arrest.
