Woman charged in Sanford slaying

Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at 105 Gordon Street at about 11 p.m. Friday and found Lee Allen Hancock in the bedroom of an apartment with a stab wound to the chest, police said.

SANFORD, N.C. — A Sanford woman has been charged in the fatal stabbing of a man late Friday, police said Monday.

Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at 105 Gordon St. at about 11 p.m. Friday and found Lee Allen Hancock in the bedroom of an apartment with a stab wound to the chest, police said.

Hancock, 50, of 105 Gordon St., Apt. 2, was pronounced dead at Central Carolina Hospital.

Linda Denise Ellison, 37, of the same address, was charged with murder in the case and was being held Monday in the Lee County jail without bond.

No information was released as to a possible motive in the slaying or the relationship between Hancock and Ellison.
