Woman assaulted in Franklin Street area, Chapel Hill police say

A woman was assaulted early Wednesday morning while walking along North Columbia Street, according to Chapel Hill police.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A woman was assaulted early Wednesday morning while walking along North Columbia Street, according to Chapel Hill police.

The Chapel Hill Police Department responded to the 500 block of North Columbia Street around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. The woman told police officers she had just left the area of East Franklin Street and North Columbia Street.

Police are working to get more information about the assault.
