FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A woman and her teenage son were shot at the Travel Lodge hotel in Fayetteville on Thursday night. The shooting was related to a crash involving the boy's father, police said.

Shortly before 10 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the 200 block of Cedar Creek Road in reference to a shooting.

They found a woman who had been shot in the back of the leg and her son, who was grazed by a bullet. Both were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the boy's father was trying to get to the mother and son and was involved in a single-car crash.

Police said this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective D. O’Hara at 910-303-4220 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-TIPS (8477).

Thursday's shooting marks the second at the Travel Lodge recently. In August, two people were shot in the parking lot, and one died.
Just last week, shots were fired at the Waffle House on Cedar Creek Road, just minutes from the hotel.
