Woman accused of forgery to gain custody of children

Authorities said Catherine E. Lezhat, of 123 Charleston Court, Apt. A, filed the papers with the Wake County Clerk of Court and was given custody of her children.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Winston-Salem woman is accused of faking court documents to get custody of her children.

Authorities said Catherine E. Lezhat, of 123 Charleston Court, Apt. A, filed the papers with the Wake County Clerk of Court Thursday and was given custody of her children.

She was arrested Friday after authorities realized the documents were forged.

Lezhat faces one count each of uttering a forged instrument, forgery of an instrument, obstructing justice and child abduction.

She was in the Wake County Jail Monday under $1,035,000 bond. The children were with family members, authorities said.
