APEX, N.C. — A 15-year-old called police after seeing his neighbor's Apex home on fire.

The fire happened at Wesley Ridge Drive on Saturday.

Chase Graves said he was with his friend at the pool when storms started to roll into the area.

"Boom, boom, boom. It was huge. It was like big lightning," described Graves.

Graves said he ran out of the pool for cover. Shortly after, a house nearby caught fire. Video from the scene showed two holes in the roof.

"We came outside [and] the house out there, we saw smoke coming from it and fire coming from the corner of the house," said Graves.

Graves called 911 after seeing the fire and crews responded shortly after. Graves and several other witnesses told WRAL News lightning could have been the culprit.

"We knew it was lightning because we saw the flash," said Graves. "There was fire everywhere. Smoke started spreading down there."

Fairview Fire Department did not confirm whether the fire was caused by lightning. Officials did not give an update on if anyone was injured in the fire.
